On Sunday, September 9, my home congregation --Gulf Shores UMC -- commissioned me at all three services!
It was awe-some! I am so excited to be making this God-inspired journey an getting to work with incredible partners in ministry.
Commissioning of
Dr. Jim Robey
L: Dear friends,
today we are privileged to take part in a celebration of blessing and
commissioning of one of our
own, Dr. Jim Robey, an ordained United Methodist minister. In the book of
Acts, the Holy Spirit set apart Saul and Barnabas for the work of mission, laid hands on them
and sent them out. The early church eagerly sent its members and ministers to other
peoples, to assist those who were already of the household of faith and those
who did not yet
believe in Christ. Dr. Robey has embarked upon a new ministry in Africa. In July, Jim was in
Nairobi, Kenya, to lead training events for Church leaders there. This week he departs for
events in South Africa and Swaziland. In October he will return for events in Cape Town, South
Africa.
P: Jim, in the
name of this congregation, we commend you to this work and pledge to you our prayers,
encouragement, and support. May the Holy Spirit guide, strengthen, and bless you
and your ministry.
L: Jim, we
commission you to take the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ into all the world,
in the name of the Creator, and of the Christ, and of the Holy
Ghost. Amen.
